Berlin. Restaurant Rutz in Berlin-Mitte is introducing a new compact menu category. With the “Berlin Size Menu”, which is limited daily in terms of space, guests can enjoy six courses including accompanying drinks at a special price of € 300.
The new gateway to the wonderful, exciting world of Rutz only compromises on the number of courses and therefore the time investment. With six courses from Marco Müller’s regular “Nature & Flavours” inspiration menu, plus amuse-gueule and pré-dessert, the new “Berlin Size Menu” is a small menu below the seven- to eight-course menu. An optional caviar dish can also be ordered with all menus. The inclusive price of € 300 for the “Berlin Size Menu”, which is limited in terms of space each day, also includes an accompaniment of four wines and two of the award-winning non-alcoholic creations that unmistakably embody the Rutz style.
“We chose the name ‘Berlin Size Menu’ for our new compact category
— explains Anja Schmidt, who owns the Rutz restaurant with her husband Carsten.
because guests’ wishes are as diverse as Berlin these days”
With dishes such as “Spring trout & kohlrabi, charcoal” and “Lamb & wadden oyster, broad bean”, the menu responds to the demand for smaller dishes and therefore a slightly shorter evening in the restaurant, especially on weekdays. “Some guests like to eat and drink less during the week. And sometimes they don’t want to sit in the restaurant for so long when they leave early in the morning,” says restaurant manager Falco Mühlichen in his inimitably relaxed yet professional manner.
The menu is also aimed at anyone who simply wants to try out Rutz on a trip to Berlin. “Young people in particular can also immerse themselves in a three-star experience at a clearly defined special price without any fear of the threshold,” says Culinary Director Marco Müller.
With the “Berlin Size Menu”, guests can expect the typical Rutz style not only in the dishes, but also in the beverage accompaniment by top sommelier Nancy Großmann. Among the four wines at the start is the “Rutz Rebell” Pinot Blanc 2022 from the Palatinate winery Odinsteil, one of Rutz’s exclusive collaborations with top winemakers. “Whey & yellow beetroot” in a glass with “bitter salad & yellow beetroot, stockfish” represents the innovative, perfectly coordinated non-alcoholic accompaniment to the cuisine.
About the restaurant Rutz in Berlin:
The concept of a wine bar with restaurant and wine sales, which opened on 12 March 2001 with Lars Rutz († 2003), developed into today’s top restaurant Rutz, family-run by co-founder and owner couple Anja and Carsten Schmidt. Executive chef Marco Müller has been in charge of the kitchen since 2004, with Dennis Quetsch as head chef. In 2020, the Michelin Guide awarded Rutz three stars as the only restaurant in Berlin to date, as well as the green star for particularly committed sustainable gastronomy. Almost all other restaurant guides also award top ratings. Since 2022, the Rutz has also presented itself visually in a new, timelessly purist and elegant guise following a major redesign under the direction of Berlin architect Prof. Gesine Weinmiller.
