Berlin. Restaurant Rutz in Berlin-Mitte takes over the top position in the restaurant rankings for Germany for the first time at the start of 2024. An update to the gourmet portal “Restaurant-Ranglisten”, which determines a ranking of currently 4,766 restaurants in Germany based on the ratings of the leading restaurant guides, ensures this.
For the first time, the Berlin restaurant Rutz has achieved first place in the restaurant rankings for Germany. Together with the Schwarzwaldstube in Baiersbronn, the Rutz shares the top spot in Germany with 120.1 points. An update to the renowned gourmet portal “www.restaurant-ranglisten.de” at the start of 2024 will ensure a change in the highly competitive group of top restaurants in the restaurant rankings for Germany. In particular, the top score for the Rutz in the Falstaff magazine ratings published at the beginning of December 2023 leads to the decisive difference in points. “Restaurant-Ranglisten” determines its rankings for Germany on the basis of ratings from leading restaurant guides such as the Michelin Guide, Gault & Millau, Gusto, Der Feinschmecker and Falstaff. International rankings are also compiled.
“Of course we are very happy about this wonderful news at the start of the year”
– says Executive Chef Marco Müller
and emphasizes how important the consistent team performance of the kitchen and service is. With this success story, Restaurant Rutz is following on seamlessly from the previous year. At the end of the year, the Frankfurter Allgemeine Sonntagszeitung (FAS), under the leadership of gastronomy expert Jürgen Dollase, named Marco Müller “National Chef of the Year” in its Culinary Darlings of the Year awards. Sommelière Nancy Großmann has previously been awarded The Gourmet Sommelier of the Year 2023, Rolling Pin Awards #1 at 50 Best Sommelier 2023 and at the Falstaff Wine Trophy 2024. Restaurant manager Falco Mühlichen was in the spotlight as Berlin Host 2023 at the “Berlin Master Chefs” and at the FAS Culinary Favorites of the Year as “Host of the Year”.
About the Restaurant Rutz in Berlin:
The concept of a wine bar with restaurant and wine sales, which opened in 2001 with Lars Rutz († 2003), developed into today’s top restaurant Rutz, which is still family-run by owners Anja and Carsten Schmidt. Executive chef Marco Müller has been in charge of the kitchen since 2004, with Dennis Quetsch as head chef. In 2020, the Michelin Guide awarded Rutz three stars as the only restaurant in Berlin to date, as well as the green star for particularly committed sustainable gastronomy. Almost all other restaurant guides also award top ratings. Since 2022, the Rutz has also presented itself visually in a new, timelessly purist and elegant guise following a major redesign under the direction of Berlin architect Prof. Gesine Weinmiller.
