Berlin. At three-star restaurant Rutz in Berlin-Mitte, executive chef Marco Müller and head chef Dennis Quetsch with the Rutz team will welcome Fredrik Berselius and his team from two-star Michelin restaurant Aska in Brooklyn, New York, on August 13, 2024. Starting at 7 pm, there will be a 4-hands dinner with courses from both restaurants at a total price of € 545.
Restaurant Rutz is delighted to present another top-class guest appearance for a 4-hands dinner. With Swedish-born Fredrik Berselius and his restaurant Aska, one of the most exciting chefs from the Big Apple, even from the USA, is coming to Berlin. Dishes such as “Trout, lichen and flavors from northern New York” or “Hake, Swedish dark beer and flowering dill, Beluga caviar” ingeniously reflect the combination of the culinary heritage of Sweden and his now long-standing (culinary) chosen home with the Brooklyn groove.
A match made in heaven as the Rutz and Aska cuisine, for all their differences, are based on a similar foundation of love for ingredients and unique influences.
“We think that the philosophy at Aska fits in wonderfully alongside our own, where two flavors, seemingly created from just two ingredients, always come together”
– explains executive chef Marco Müller full of anticipation.
“At the Rutz, we rely on the best local and German producers for our menu, while at Aska they combine Nordic inspiration with US products”
– adds head chef Dennis Quetsch.
And there is another Berlin connection: Just like in his native Brooklyn, Fredrik Berselius will also be using his favorite porcelain at this special evening – namely from Hering Berlin.
Restaurant manager Falco Mühlichen and his service team will in their usual charming and professional manner guide diners through the evening with six courses, three of which will be served on the fly and, like the kitchen greetings at the beginning and end, will be prepared alternating by both kitchen teams. Sommelière Nancy Großmann will provide the matching wine accompaniment. Together with aperitif, wines, water and coffee or tea, the total price for the event is € 545 per person.
One more reason why this unique evening becomes an exclusive experience is that guests do not have to travel to New York, where ther are only ten tables every evening in Fredrik Berselius’ restaurant. And after all, Berlin-Mitte also has its infectious culinary rhythm.
About the restaurant Rutz in Berlin:
The concept of a wine bar with restaurant and wine sales, which opened in 2001 with Lars Rutz († 2003), developed into today’s top restaurant Rutz, which continues to be family-run by owner couple Anja and Carsten Schmidt. Executive chef Marco Müller has headed up the kitchen since 2004, with Dennis Quetsch as head chef. In 2020, the Michelin Guide awarded the Rutz three stars as the only restaurant in Berlin to date, as well as the green star for particularly committed sustainable gastronomy. Almost all other restaurant guides also award top ratings. Since 2022, the Rutz has a new appearance following a major redesign under the direction of Berlin architect Prof. Gesine Weinmiller in a new, timelessly purist and elegant look. Since the beginning of 2024, the Rutz has not only been Berlin’s best restaurant, but is also equal on points with the “Schwarzwaldstube” in the ranking of selected German restaurants on the restaurant ranking portal Restaurant-Ranglisten Deutschland and since July 2024, after an update, now alone ahead of the “Schwarzwaldstube” in pole position.
